When you think of a salon you think of haircuts and color right? The Pretty Pretty Collective is about more than just beauty. It’s both a salon and gallery. Hosting art shows with local artists as well as live music. The place transforms into a gallery at night complete with a hair washing bar that turns into a wine bar.

The Pretty Pretty Collective opened August 20th, 2010. They are located in the Mission District at 3290 22nd Street in San Francisco. We contacted Georgia Rew who is the owner and founder of the salon to ask her a few questions.

Number of stylist on staff?

“We have 12 stylists, three receptionists and one general manager.”

Describe the experience you offer your customers?

“When clients arrive at the front desk they are checked in and offered a beverage of their choice while they wait. We serve Four Barrel Coffee, herbal teas, Pabst Blue Ribbon beer as well as Jameson Irish Whiskey. Once in the chair, clients are always given a consultation on the service they are receiving. With men’s cutting we like to offer the male client a shampoo before as well as after the cut to rid any stray hairs. All cuts, styling and color services come with a shampoo/scalp massage as well.”

Services you offer?

PPC offers hair services ranging from:

“Cuts – Men’s, women’s and children’s. We also give the clients a free clean up or bang trim between appointments as well….typically clients come in for the free clean up about 3-4 weeks before their next full haircut.”

“Colors – Highlighting, balayage, hair painting, single process/base color/all over color, bleach and tone and now offering Fabuloso Pro color treatments.”

“Styling – Up-do’s, bridal and basic shampoo and style.”

Is there anything that makes your salon unique compared to offer salons in the Bay Area?

“PPC is different in the fact that it is a collective, meaning that everyone who works here is part of the collective team. We offer in-house education between all stylists and use each other to learn and inspire each other. We also do fashion production, art shows, have live music events, host classes for our staff and other salons.”

Any beauty tips to share with us?

“Leave it to the professional…Don’t use box color or let friends who have no knowledge try coloring your hair…Typically this will not turn out to be a money saver and you will find yourself in a salon having the color corrected. Use a heat protectant when using hot tools on your hair…this will prevent damage!”

Favorite products that you sell?

“We carry both R+co and Bumble and Bumble. We are obsessed with R+Co Badlands dry shampoo paste and the Bumble Surf Infusion!”
